What is Zotero?
Zotero is a tool you can use to collect, organize, cite, and share research resources.


Downloading Zotero:
1.  Go to the Zotero home page at www.zotero.org
2.  Log in
3.  Click “Download Now” button
4.  Choose “Zotero for Firefox” OR “Zotero Standalone”
        a.  If choosing Zotero Standalone, select a browser
5.  Upload connector
6.  You will have to create a private key so that Zotero can properly connect


Using Zotero:
1.  Collect resources
a.  When you are at a a research-related site the Zotero icon will appear on the right end of the URL bar.  Click this icon and the content in your browser will immediately be added to your Zotero library.
2.  Organize research
        a.  Zotero automatically organizes research items when they are added to your library.
b.  You can also manually organize research items in your Zotero library.  For example, you can assign “tags” to items in your library to organize your research by keywords.
3.  Cite resources
        a.  In your Zotero library, click the “cite” icon to cite any resources in your library
4.  Sync data
        a.  Zotero will automatically sync your data to any number of devices you specify
5.  Collaborate
a.  You can create and join shared group libraries of research.  Groups can be private or public.
**HPLP has a group library, but it is currently empty**
